Textiles: 10 Samples

So far I have done a range of techniques and used most of the materials provided. My aim so try every possible way to experiment with textiles.

Heat Press
This was done by collecting materials such as  fabrics, yarn, string etc. I used vibrant materials as i know they can lose their vibrancy in colour by the plastic sheets. The sample felt still felt bland, so I drew 2 faces as a reference to my previous art work to make feel more complete.

Applique
A coloured fabric background done by fabric paints, with a cut out silhouette of this lady stitched on top by a sewing machine. This follows by embroidery and use of felt tip pen for details.
This was my most dreaded piece as I absolutely hate sewing, the process was very stressful for me as I always got the thread jammed 1 minute in! However, I must say this came out better than expected.

Transfer Paints
This was my first time trying transfer Paints hence the lack of quality, however I will do more samples with precision and accuracy. Overall, a good try.

Screen Printing
The pattern was inspired by my past portrait drawings and combining my 2D lesson on character design, to create this lady surrounded by flowers and two hands holding her at each end.
