We did a session where we had to use variety of thin and thick lines to create dimension for our chosen objects to draw.
We also practised how to create form and depth by using faint lines instead of basic tonal shading.
I was not that confident in this excercise as the objects were complex however I did enjoy the process.
The last drawing was the most difficult as I had to create tone by using faint lines, I realised that I always press the pencil too hard making the lines thick and visible which didn't help in making subtle shadows. In the end I blended it all with a cotton bud... I should definitely practice in the way I draw lines and also have some patience with it.
Overall the drawing session was fun and I could sure do more of them to improve the quality of my work.
At the end of the lesson, I decided to do another observational drawing inspired by ZHENYA.Z ( an Instagram illustrator). I really enjoy doing portraits in my own style and I found her work pushes me to do more mark making which is something that I never really found interesting or aesthetically pleasing, but I'm glad I'm getting into it because it also relates to the many project tasks that I have.

This is something very different to my regular work as it looks like an unfinished piece. But it is finished by adding Mark-making and use of line to tie the piece in together. I really like the warm saturation of Ellie's face contrasted with the light blue paper. Unfortunately, I didn't have high quality pastels to really go into it with the shading but I'm happy with the outcome and I'd like to do more... perhaps create a series of these?
